Tomorrow, Brett, Katie and I will run in our first 5K. In spite of completing the Couch to 5K months ago and being able to run 30 minutes straight, I have never run a complete 5K. I'm s-l-o-w! In my case, the program was more like Couch to 3K on Perfectly Level Ground.
My game plan is to alternate running 10 minutes and walking 3. Slow and steady isn't just my strategy; it's a necessity.
I'm grateful for my sweet husband and daughter who are doing this with me. A 5K wasn't exactly their idea of how to spend Thanksgiving morning, but they're getting up super early anyway.
