Next we headed on up Exchange Street, first to the visitor center and then to Stockyards Station, a collection of shops and restaurants.
The Candy Barrel was the shop where we spent most of our time. Low-Carb Lady here had to get out of there after a little too much exposure to the sweet stuff.
We indulged the kids a bit. This is a vacation, after all!
Then we parked ourselves on the curb to be ready for the cattle drive at 11:30.
Twice a day these longhorns are led down the street to recreate a common scene from back in the day.
When Texas had no money, it had access to longhorns. No wonder the longhorn is the state's official large mammal! (And yes, we have a state small mammal, too. Do you know what it is?)
